ADD FLAIR TO A VINTAGE CHAIR
Add some flair to your favorite vintage chair with help from your neighbors at Ace. We're right down the street with the paint and all the supplies you need to get this fun project done quickly and easily.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Ace Cabinet, Door &
- 1" & 1.5" paintbrushes
- Stir stick
- Painter's tape
- 220 grit sandpaper
- Mineral spirits
- Disposable latex gloves
The first step is proper prep. Lightly sand the wood with 220 grit sandpaper to smooth the surface and loosen up the old finish, then wipe everything down with mineral spirits.
Wear latex gloves to protect your hands while using mineral spirits
Next, apply the primer with a paintbrush, making sure you get even coverage on all the surfaces you're painting - the seat, chair back, legs and frame.
Now you're ready to paint. Start with the lightest color, Ace Cabinet, Door & Trim Paint Haven of Coziness N-C1, and apply two coats to the chair legs and frame. Make sure the first coat is dry before you start on the second.
Remove tape while paint is still wet for clean lines
Once the second coat is completely dry, use painter's tape to protect the chair legs and frame where they meet the chair back and seat.
Then, use Ace Cabinet, Door & Trim Paint Illuminated Sky 32C-3 to paint the chair back, being careful not to drip on the legs and frames. Finally, use Ace Cabinet, Door & Trim Paint Spicy Paprika 08B-7 on the seat. As always, apply two coats for the best coverage. Remove the painter's tape once you're done.
And there you have it-a DIY project that will brighten up your workspace and have visitors sit up and take notice. It's just that easy when you have paint, supplies and helpful advice from your local Ace!
